A few tips before we dive in: If you’re a new nonfiction writer planning to make use of this list, always check the status of each publisher’s submission period first. Some of them open at a limited time and might be closed from a few months to a whole year. Likewise, some publishers prioritise their local or regional authors so you might get automatically disqualified if you fail to check this bit of information on their website prior to submission.

Simultaneous Submissions, Other Reminders

Bear in mind that although this is a big list of independent publishers accepting unsolicited submissions from nonfiction writers, there are still a lot more out there and we suggest you add more into the lineup that are more specific to your genre. Additionally, some publishers do not allow simultaneous submissions and those who do request that you inform them should your work get accepted somewhere. Likewise, you may choose to withdraw your submission if you realise later on that your work don’t quite fit the publisher’s list. It’s always best to thoroughly read all available guidelines to avoid any problems.

Finally, here’s a reminder that Caret Publishing is a small press and imprint of niche nonfiction books and we’re open to submissions in English. Feel free to send us a book proposal if you have an idea for a book. Go to Submit Your Work for more details. Best of luck with the subbing!
